The church exists by mission. It is both the reason and the purpose of our being. Some of the methods in which we express our mission in the world are done together as a congregation. It includes things like volunteering our time, providing backpacks for needy elementary students, collecting food for a local food pantry, sending care packages to those serving in the military, and responding to crisis in our community and world. Some specific organizations we serve are:
Harvester’s Food Pantry
Harvesters’ mission is to feed hungry people today and work to end hunger tomorrow. They are a regional food bank serving a 26-county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. Our church volunteered at the Harvesters distribution center prior to the pandemic, and still wants to help those who are hungry. Our Harvester’s barrel has arrived in the narthex. We are collecting non-perishable items for Harvesters and encourage you to bring items when you come to church. When the barrel is full, Harvesters will share the items and bring a new barrel. Learn more at Harvesters.org.

Karla Huitink Memorial
The first lady of Crossroads Church, Karla Huitink, passed away in August 2009. She was a champion of children, pouring her passion, skill, and energy into the lives of the youngest of our world. She launched and administered one of the best preschools in Johnson County, inspiring thousands of children and teachers. She invested her faith and life in the children of the congregation as well. A memorial was established to promote spiritual formation and development in children. Her love of the youngest among us and her passion for integrating the needs and opportunities of the individual child will continue her vision in our world.
